Community-Based Research Assistant

Anna Garst is a first-year student at James Madison University in the Masters of Psychological Sciences program, with a concentration in Applied Research. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Business, Organization, and Management Studies from Gettysburg College in May 2024. Prior to arriving at James Madison University, she worked as an Undergraduate Psychology Research Assistant and Summer Research Fellow for the Gettysburg College psychology department, a Leadership Mentor for the Garthwait Leadership Center, and Branch Operations Intern for Regional Finance. As a Community-Based Graduate Assistant with MCCD, Anna is working to implement and evaluate a new youth wellness program at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Harrisonburg & Rockingham County. Anna also assists psychology department faculty with research as a part of the FRAME (Family, Relationships, Advocacy, and Mental Health Engagement) Lab. Her research interests include child and adolescent social-emotional development, clinical intervention, learning disorders, achievement, and executive functioning.
