EUPS Practitioner
Andreas Berg is a Strategic Planner with the European External Action Service (EEAS), focusing on the planning of EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) missions within the Crisis Management Planning Directorate (CMPD).
Previously Andreas served as Senior Advisor on Security Sector Reform (SSR) to the Kosovo government from 2014-2016, embedded within the Kosovo Security Council Secretariat to assist in developing security-related strategies and build the capacity of Kosovo's young institutions. He also served as Political Advisor for the European Rule of Law Mission (EULEX) based in Brussels from 2012-2013 and as Reporting Officer for EULEX in Pristina from 2010-2012.
Andreas's several years as an advisor in the field was preceded by some years in the academic and NGO arena, including with the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation and Political Violence (ICSR) in London, and as an assistant at the YMCA of the USA in Chicago from 2003-2006.
Andreas earned his BA in History from the University of California - Berkeley in 2003 and his MA in International Relations from King's College London in 2008. A Swedish native, he grew up in California and is a dual Swedish and American citizen. Besides Swedish and English, he speaks basic-level German and some Albanian.
