Overview

Peace Corps service is a great commitment, in which volunteers gain benefits that last a lifetime.

Financial Support

Volunteers receive a housing and living stipend that allows them to live similarly to the people in the community where they are placed. Volunteers with student loans may be eligible for deferment or partial loan forgiveness. Additionally, Volunteers will receive two paid vacation days a month when they can travel to nearby countries or explore their host country.

Training and Transition

During their service, Volunteers receive rigorous technical training, including in-depth intercultural and language instruction. Once their service is finished, the Peace Corps provides supports for Volunteers re-integrating into their home culture and translating their skills and field experience to employers. Peace Corps Volunteers may also have advantages in federal employment and some hiring benefits, in addition to the collection of graduate schools that recognize the value of Peace Corps service.
