Graduation Dates and Deadlines
August 2024 Graduation
- Graduation Applications Open: Sep. 1, 2023
- Deadline to submit graduation application for May or August: November 1, 2023
- Deadline to submit graduation applications to ensure graduation in August: August 9, 2024
- Scholarly Documents and Comprehensive Assessments due: July 10, 2024
- Coursework must be completed by: August 9, 2024
- August graduates may participate in May 2024 or December 2024 Commencement. Check with your graduate program to see if there is a preference in which ceremony you participate.
December 2024 Graduation
- Graduation Applications Open: April 1st, 2024
- Deadline to submit graduation application for December: May 31, 2024
- Deadline to submit graduation applications to ensure inclusion in the Commencement program: October 2024.
- Scholarly Documents and Comprehensive Assessments due: November 15th, 2024
- Coursework must be completed by: December 13th, 2024
- The December 2024 University Commencement Ceremony is scheduled for December 14th, 2024, 10 am, at the Atlantic Union Bank Center. For more details, visit www.jmu.edu/commencement.
May 2025 Graduation
- Graduation Applications Open: September 1, 2024
- Deadline to submit graduation application for May or August: November 1, 2024
- Deadline to submit graduation applications to ensure inclusion in the Commencement program: March 2025.
- Scholarly Documents and Comprehensive Assessments due: April 16, 2025
- Coursework must be completed by: May 15, 2025
