Transcripts
Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with your electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes. If offered admission, you will be directed and required to submit to the JMU Graduate School an official transcript from any institution from which a degree has been awarded to finalize your admission. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.

Two or three page personal statement describing the applicant's rationale for entering the teaching profession

Applicants should have an undergraduate GPA of 2.75 or better. (If your GPA is lower, contact the program before you submit an application.)

Applicants must pass Praxis Core Math and the VCLA prior to starting the program.
Once admitted to graduate school, teacher candidates also must apply for Teacher Education at JMU.
