Hyuntae graduated with a Bachelor’s in Social Work from California State University Los Angeles and a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Washington – Seattle. After receiving his MSW, he taught English as a Second Language in South Korea for nearly 5 years before returning to the U.S. Previous to this position, Hyuntae worked as a social worker for the Department of Health & Human Services and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Julianne graduated with a BSN from Eastern Mennonite University in 2006 and has been working as an RN in the Harrisonburg/Rockingham community ever since. She has experience in both acute and outpatient healthcare, but the majority of her career has been spent in the community setting. In 2018, she graduated with an MSN from Eastern Mennonite University and began teaching at the JMU School of Nursing. Julianne has a special interest in community engagement and healthcare involving children and adolescent populations and enjoys sharing these passions with her students in the school/community health and Precious Time settings. In her faculty role at JMU, Julianne is the coordinator for the pediatric nursing clinical course and also serves as a first-year advisor.

Anna VanLear

Social Work Practicum Student

Anna is a senior at James Madison University majoring in Social Work with a minor in Family Studies. For her senior year practicum, she is interning with the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services within the Child, Youth, and Family programs: Gus Bus and Claude Moore Precious Time. She is excited to learn about caregiving for a child with special healthcare needs and about school systems while working with these programs. She is passionate about supporting children and families and aspires to become a school social worker.

Izzy Snayd

Izzy is a senior at James Madison University majoring in Social Work with a minor in Family Studies. For her senior year practicum, she is interning with the Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services within the Child, Youth, and Family programs: Claude Moore Precious Time, Gus Bus and Shenandoah Valley Migrant Education Program. She is excited to work with the organizations within the Institute and learn more about how to best support people within these situations. She is passionate about social work and has the goal of becoming a licensed clinical social worker.
