The Shenandoah Valley Migrant Education Program (SVMEP) provides quality academic support services and advocacy to newly arrived migrant families in the community. SVMEP staff visit the families in their homes and migrant camps to assess their needs and aid the students and young adults in achieving their educational goals.
Our GoalThe goal of the Shenandoah Valley Migrant Education Program (SVMEP) is to ensure that all migrant students reach challenging academic standards and graduate with a high school diploma or complete a GED that prepares them for further learning, productive employment, and to be responsible community members.
SVMEP is one of 6 regional programs of the Virginia Migrant Education Program. It is a Federal Title I, part C program, under the Every Student Succeeds Act, that is state-administered by the Office of Program Administration and Accountability at the Virginia Department of Education.
