If you are International Business major who is a native or heritage speaker of French, German, Russian, or Spanish and wish to receive a waiver for the 300 course in your language, you must first score 650 or higher on the Language Placement Exam, then retake the placement test in the Language Resource Center (Keezell 103).
(Note: If you have declared or plan to declare a Spanish major or minor or minor in Latin American, Latinx, and Caribbean Studies (LAXC) you cannot receive a waiver. You must either take SPAN 300 or take the SPAN 300 Credit by Examination. See this page for more information.)
To retake the placement test and receive a waiver for FR 300, GER 300, RUS 300, or SPAN 300:
- Print your first score results from MyMadison which shows a score of 650 or higher.
- Retake the placement test in the Language Resource Center in Keezell 103 and score 650 or higher.
- Print the results and take BOTH the 1st and 2nd test results to Keezell 301.
The Academic Unit Head will notify the Business Department that you have placed out of 300. You will be required to take another 300 level course to take its place to fulfill your major requirements. You will not get credit for 300 but a waiver to substitute a different course.
