Through exploration and participation in programs and leadership opportunities offered by the Student Life Department, students will have the opportunity to:

  • indicate how their involvement in organizations and sponsored programs enhances their connection to the JMU community and beyond.
  •  
  • be able to explain the positive impact on them and those around them of following agreed upon, community-established guidelines and expectations to help create a safe, values-oriented communities.
  •  
  • be actively involved in creating opportunities to increase equitable living, learning and social spaces within their communities.
  •  
  • be able to analyze how their values inform their decision-making process.  
  •  
  • use critical thinking to assess personal belief-systems in order to consider alternative perspectives.
  •  
  • explain how they use their leadership strengths to guide and influence individuals or organizations across differences.  
  •  
  • know how to find the resources, people, and/or offices they need to advocate for themselves and their peers.
  •  
  • engage in active citizenry to create healthy environments for oneself and others.  
  •  
  • be able to identify realistic changes they can make to incorporate healthy habits, stress reduction, and/or balance into their lives.
