JMU Clery Act: Student Travel Form
James Madison University is required to disclose statistics for Clery crimes that occur in geographic areas that the University owns or controls, which includes student trips. To meet Clery Act requirements, faculty, staff and volunteers must submit the JMU Clery Act: Student Travel Form for all trips.
Anyone who leads a trip or program in which students are traveling is required to submit that information via this form for each trip or program. This is required for compliance with the the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 U.S.C. § 1092; 34 CFR 668.46), commonly known as the "Clery Act".
Information submitted allows the Clery Compliance Officer to determine if the University had control over the space and, if so, contact relevant law enforcement agencies for reports on incidents that may have occurred at those locations while the trip or program occurred.
Please note, it is important that information is submitted as soon as possible to ensure that proper assessment and follow-up can be conducted.
For more information about this process, contact LeeAnn Shreve, Clery Compliance Officer, at shrevelm@jmu.edu.
Note: please do not report until the student trip has been confirmed.
