We invite our campus community to learn about how JMU is incorporating sustainability into education, research, engagement, and operations. Opportunities to enhance student learning about energy and the environment through place-based, experiential study of university facilities and operations are available. Faculty and staff members who would like to complete an environmental project which involves the physical campus (such as obtaining building energy data, adding soil amendments, installing data loggers in building control rooms, or planting trees), and/or personnel time (such as interviews and other requests for sustainability information), should complete the following form. While we encourage student projects, a faculty advisor/instructor must review, sign and submit the form on behalf of students. Requests are reviewed on the 15th of each month. Download the Environmental Project Request Form. Information sessions will be held at the beginning of each semester to support this process. Please email stewardship@jmu.edu for further information.
Please note that JMU's STARS report documents sustainability performance across the university and is a great place to start if you are looking for information related to JMU's campus sustainability efforts.
Faculty, staff, school groups, and community members interested Science On a Sphere should visit the Science On a Sphere webpage.
For non-environment related requests, please send inquires to Facilities Management.
Only request forms with all necessary information, including all signatures, and submitted electronically to stewardship@jmu.edu will be processed.
