The LASSI is an online 60-item self-assessment of student’s awareness about and use of learning and study strategies related to skill, will and self-regulation components of strategic learning. The LASSI provides standardized scores (percentile score equivalents) and national norms for ten different strategies. It provides students with a picture of their strengths and weaknesses, compared to other college students.
The areas covered by the 10 scales which can be divided into 3 learning components:
- Will: Motivation, Attitude, Anxiety
- Skill: Selecting Main Idea, Information Processing, Test Strategies
- Self-regulation: Self-Testing, Concentration, Time Management, and Using Academic Resources
The LASSI may be given during a Learning Strategies Instruction session to help the student and peer educator use their time to focus on the components most critical for the student.
