Overview

The first priority when an incident occurs is the safety and well-being of the individual(s) involved. AFTER proper care has been taken and the incident is deescalated, the next step is to notify the AUH, and finally to submit the relevant form.

Documentation is important! Both for the filing for compensation, and also to build a safer department. This system should be used for all injuries, episodes of illness, accidents, fires, near misses, and any other incidents that feel just in notification.

If you are unsure if there is a need to report the incident, report the incident”

- Brian Smallwood, OSHA Outreach Instructor

JMU Policy is to not transport anyone in your vehicle. If someone is in need of transportation help, you need to reach out to Emergency Services and have them transported by a professional. This is both for your protection, and the protection of the injured.
