Leona K. Barlow Scholarship
Established with a gift from the Estate of Leona K. Barlow for an endowment for Home Economics scholarships. Since Home Economics became part of the Department of Health Sciences (now Health Professions), the scholarship funds will benefit a Health Professions /Dietetics student.
Nannie Rudd Evans Scholarship
A scholarship was established by Charlotte Evens Floyd (’48) to honor the memory of her sister, Nannie Rudd Evans. This scholarship will benefit students who have declared a major in Dietetics.
Juanita and Trammel Fishback Scholarship
This scholarship was established from the estate of Juanita Fishback. It is awarded annually to an outstanding Dietetics student with financial need.
Martha Irvin Scholarship
The Martha Irvin ('56) Endowed Scholarship in Dietetics will provide scholarship support for undergraduate students whose field of study and research is Dietetics. Each year, scholarship funds will be provided to one outstanding undergraduate student scholar, renewable for up to four academic years beyond a student's freshman year of study.
Joanne Pearson Scholarship
An endowed scholarship named for Dr. Joanne Pearson honoring her twelve years of service to JMU and the dietetics program. The scholarship is intended to benefit a JMU student in the dietetics program with preference being given to a student who is experiencing financial difficulty. The student may be an entering freshman, an undergraduate, or a graduate student. The recipient must complete a scholarship application and be selected from other applicants by the faculty of the program of dietetics. In addition, the recipient must maintain satisfactory academic progress.
Spitzer (Margaret) Family Scholarship
An endowed scholarship established by Margaret Spitzer in honor of the Spitzer Family. This award is intended to benefit a JMU dietetics student from Rockingham or Fairfax county, VA. The intent is for the same student to have this scholarship throughout his/her JMU enrollment. If at any time the student recipient fails to meet the requirements or when the student graduates, a new student will be selected based on the established criteria.
Vetrovec Endowed Scholarship for Dietetics
An endowed scholarship established with a gift from Mary E. Massie Vetrovec ('67). To be eligible for this scholarship, a student must: 1. Be a rising junior with ad cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, 2. Demonstrate financial need as determined by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships, and 3. Be a Virginia resident. Once a student is named a Vetrovec Scholar, this scholarship may be renewed for up to two consecutive years provided that the recipient maintains a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
