The inaugural year of Lab School at East Rockingham High School has gotten off to a wonderful start. I have thoroughly enjoyed witnessing a varied group of students working together through four different academic disciplines and discovering the numerous connections and commonalities that exist. I have also enjoyed watching the teachers discover similar academic connections, and enjoy planning and collaborating as a team to produce unique and fresh experiences for their students.”

Lab School is giving our students and teachers an opportunity to explore Eng 9, Health/PE 9, Science and World Geography in a completely different format than what's been the norm. In the last 11 weeks our Lab School students and teachers have risen to the challenge and are exploring their world in a project-based setting that's allowed for collaboration, community, social-emotional growth, and positive academic growth. I've been hearing from parents that their children are telling them about their day and how excited they are for the opportunities that this collab between RCPS, JMU, and BRCC is providing! Students also are reporting that they're feeling more engaged and on-task while working in this fusion setting. I'm really excited to see what Lab School has to offer over the next few weeks!”
