Program Requirements
The Paraprofessional Teaching Fellows program award/loan recipients receive financial assistance and the opportunity to grow academically, professionally, and as an individual. Students must be employed in one of the participating districts to be eligible. Those districts are Harrisonburg City, Rockingham County, Frederick County, Warren County, Petersburg, Virginia Beach City, Page County and Portsmouth City Schools. The requirements are listed below. This program provides a multifaceted support system that monitors all students in the program, while still holding them accountable for their development throughout their time at JMU.
Students must adhere to the following requirements to remain in the program.
Grade Point Average (GPA)
Paraprofessional Teaching Fellows are required to maintain a minimum overall GPA of 2.5 and an in-major GPA of 3.0 to remain in the program as well as meet other teacher education requirements.
