Application Deadline

Admission decisions are made on a rolling basis. All applications submitted by the below deadlines will be considered for the corresponding semester.

  • For Spring admission: December 1
  • For Summer admission: April 1
  • For Fall admission: July 15

Applications temporarily close for maintenance following the deadline and reopen for consideration for the next academic year on December 21, April 21, and August 4 respectively.

Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with your electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes.  If offered admission, you will be directed and required to submit to the JMU Graduate School an official transcript from any institution, other than JMU,  from which a degree has been awarded to finalize your admission. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.

Required by Program
  • Satisfactory completion of a baccalaureate degree with a grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Scores on the general portion of the Graduate Record Examination (may be waived if baccalaureate grade point average exceeds 3.5 in the last 60 semester hours of the program)
  • Evidence of a current professional educator's license (or evidence of eligibility for licensure)

International Applicants

International Graduate Information

International applicants are welcome to apply, however, this program is offered online only. Visas to study in the United States can only be issued for primarily in-person programs. A visa cannot be issued for programs that are primarily online.
