With satisfactory completion of this program a School Psychology and Counselor Education: School Psychology, M.A./Ed.S will be awarded.

The application opens September 1 and the target date is February 1. All application materials must be received by February 1 in order to ensure review by the program.

Transcripts

Unofficial transcripts from all post-secondary institutions should be uploaded with your electronic application and may be used for departmental admission review purposes. If offered admission, you will be directed and required to submit to the JMU Graduate School an official transcript from any institution from which a degree has been awarded to finalize your admission. Transcripts are considered official if they are sent to JMU directly from the issuing institution.

  • Current professional vitae
  • Brief personal statement (750-1200 words) describing the influences that have led you to consider school psychology as a career and why you believe JMU is the place for you to receive your training.
  • 18 hours of undergraduate psychology (behavioral sciences and/or education) courses (including undergraduate statistics)
  • Three letters recommendation
  • GRE General Test is optional.

Students who are selected for an interview will be invited to a required day-long interview to be held in late February or early March.
