Learning how to relax and be mindful of your process can help you to take charge of your schedule. If "relax" seems incompatible with the way you're feeling, you can learn to develop these important skills through the information and resources below. Although learning these skills is not a replacement for talking with a mental health professional when needed, developing your ability to relax and get perspective on your situation can help.

Counseling Center

The Counseling Center is staffed by competent, experienced mental health professionals who, as part of the larger University community, are dedicated to the personal, social, and academic development of all JMU students. To accomplish this goal, the Center provides counseling services within a developmental, proactive, and outreach-oriented framework.

OSARP Personal Success Programs

OSARP typically assigns a personal success program as an outcome when a student is found responsible for a policy violation(s) and shares needs related to their personal development. Our goal with personal success programs is to provide facilitated experiences for students to explore their personal values, reflect on the impacts their actions have on their communities, and plan to engage in future behaviors that align with their personal goals.
