JMU offers a comprehensive benefits package to all full-time Administrative & Professional Faculty members. The university currently offers health, dental and vision insurance, long-term disability insurance, life insurance, flexible-spending accounts, and retirement plans as core benefits to eligible employees. In addition, JMU provides other benefits and services to help enhance employee work-life wellness.
Benefits are an important part of your total compensation package, and enrollment is an integral part of the new employee onboarding process. If you have questions, please feel to contact Human Resources at 540-568-6165.
In order to maximize the benefits available to you and ensure timely enrollment, please complete the steps below.
Step 1: Review the Benefits Orientation videos provided in your Welcome Email from Onboard
The online benefits videos are best viewed on a PC, Mac or IPad. Should you need assistance or accommodations in viewing the content, please contact the Benefits Team.
This comprehensive online benefits orientation will answer many of your benefits questions and set the stage for your one-on-one enrollment session with a Benefits Specialist. The entire presentation will take about 60 minutes and is broken down into easy-to-use modules that you can view as your time allows. The videos will familiarize you with all the different benefits options available to you and aid you in deciding which options are best for you.
Step 2: After reviewing the Benefits Orientation videos, complete the Benefits Acknowledgement Form
Step 3: Set up an appointment with a Benefits Specialist to complete your benefits enrollment
Once Human Resources receives notification of your hire and start date from the department, you will be sent an email with a link from the Benefits Team to schedule your one-on-one appointment with a Benefits Specialist. This appointment may be done in person or via phone/email. As soon as you receive this email, please promptly schedule your appointment. New employees must complete their benefits enrollment within 30 days of hire.
Step 4: You may be required to provide additional documenation to your Benefits Specialist to complete your Benefits Enrollment. The Benefit Specialist will be able to answer any questions you may have.
