The Caregivers Community Network is a collaborative effort between Valley Program for Aging Services (VPAS) and James Madison University's Institute for Innovation in Health and Human Services. The goal of this program is to provide respite to caregivers of those who are 60 years old and older and offer students a strong educational foundation on the topics of aging, caregiving, and dementia. Students are trained to offer weekly home visits as a form of caregiver respite throughout the semester. They earn college credit for their hours of volunteer service! The course listing is IPE 313. This program has been honored in the past with Second Place Best Practices Award 2018 from the Commonwealth Council on Aging.
