Information

Giulia Cardillo is Associate Professor of Italian and Coordinator of the Italian Program at James Madison University. After earning an M.A. in Italian Studies from Notre Dame University, Giulia completed a Ph.D. in Italian Language and Literature at Yale University with a dissertation on the question of prophecy in Dante’s Commedia. Giulia’s research focuses on Early Modern literature, in particular Dante and Boccaccio, on networks of women writers, and on the relationship of literary to visual arts. Giulia has published articles on the concept of Terra Australis in the Middle Ages, Dante’s Commedia, Boccaccio’s Decameron, Michelangelo and Tasso, and on Luisa Bergalli. Together with Dr. Buonocore, Giulia is currently co-editing a volume entitled: Imagined Networks in Pre-Modern Italian Literature: Literary Mothers, Literary Sisters” forthcoming at the end of 2024.
