Pep Band
The JMU Pep Band, one of the premier college pep bands in the nation, plays at all home Men’s and Women’s home basketball games, as well as other various functions around campus. The revamped band has become an integral part to home basketball games with their energetic music and wild antics. The band has risen to popularity throughout the country after repeated post-season appearances by both basketball teams. In just five short years, the band has attended post-season play in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, Ohio, and Texas. The goal of the band is to entertain the crowds wherever they may be while continually supporting the Dukes basketball teams.
The band is open to all students at JMU that play brass, saxophone, drumset, bass, or guitar.
- AUDITIONS: There are no auditions, with the exception of the rhythm section. The application process begins mid to late September.
- SCHEDULE: The group rehearses for 30 minutes prior to each game. The ensemble convenes at the beginning of the basketball season.

Pep Band High School Band Day 2025
WELCOME!
Welcome to the JMU Pep Band’s High School Pep Band Day! We are extremely excited to have you join us in the stands to make awesome music and cheer on our Dukes Basketball team! We hope that this experience will allow for you to see what college pep band is all about and how exciting it can be!
DATE: February 8, 2025
LOCATION: Atlantic Union Bank Center
GAME: JMU Women’s Basketball
REGISTRATION FEE: $30 (Fee covers: 1 JMU High School Pep Band Day shirt, 1 meal voucher for participant at JMU's E-Hall Dinning Facility, and 2 General Admission Tickets - 1 for participant and 1 for parent/gaurdian chaperone)
REGULAR REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 11:59pm January 31, 2025
LATE REGISTRATION PERIOD: 12am February 1, 2025 through 11:59pm February 6, 2025 *
*After a late start to our initial registration window, we hope that this extended deadline gives more students the opportunity to participate if they wish!

SCHEDULE:
The schedule will include:
- Check-in window
- Rehearsal in the AUBC arena
- Meal at E-Hall (across the street from the AUBC)
- Pregame call time
- Parking Information
All registrants will receive the following:
- Two complimentary General Admission tickets to the game (to be picked up at Check-in): one ticket for the participant, and one ticket for a parent/guardian chaperone.
- One meal voucher to eat at E-Hall (one of our campus dining halls) between our rehearsal and the game. If parents or family members wish to visit E-Hall, admission costs approximately $15/person (credit cards are accepted).
- If registered by 11:59pm on 1/31/25 you will receive one JMU High School Pep Band Day shirt (to be worn with jeans as the performance attire for the event). If you register in our late period (2/1/25-2/6/25) we cannot guarantee having a JMU High School Pep Band Day shirt in your size. Late registrants will be asked to wear a purple shirt to the event in case we cannot provide a T-shirt.

Alumni Pep Band Day 2024
WELCOME BACK!
Welcome to the JMU Pep Band’s Alumni Pep Band Day! We are extremely excited to have you join us in the stands to make awesome music and cheer on our Dukes Basketball team! We hope that this experience will allow you to relive some of the greatest parts about being at JMU, our JMU Pep Band!
EVENT DATE: Febraury 3, 2024
LOCATION: Atlantic Union Bank Center
GAME: JMU Men's Basketball Team VS Old Dominion
REGISTRATION:
Registration for the 2024 Pep Band Alumni Band is now open! Thank you for your patience while we worked through some logistic details with our partners around campus.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: 11:59pm February 1, 2024 *
* If you do not register by this deadline you will be responsible for purchasing your own general admission ticket which is required for check-in to the arena.
CHECK-IN ON THE DAY OF EVENT:
- Participants will need to enter through the Champions Entrance. You will recieve 1 complimentary general admission ticket to the game which is required to be admitted into the arena (Please note the entrance will be staffed by RMC Security NOT by band staff).
- The uniform for this event is JMU Pep Band shirt (from any season) OR any purple shirt, and jeans.
SCHEDULE:
- 12:00pm: Check-In outside Champions Entrance at the AUBC. We'll have a band member stationed outside to give you your one free GA ticket. We don't know yet if RMC will be staffing that entrance by 12, but we're planning to hand out your participant tickets before you enter the arena in case you need them to get through security.

- Once you're inside, we'll have a Welcome Table where you can pick up printed copies of your music in a folder.

- PLEASE BRING A FOLDING MUSIC STAND IF YOU HAVE ONE. We'll also have a few to loan if you need one.

- If you indicated that you need to borrow an instrument, we'll also set you up during this hour.

- We'll have volunteers from KKS/TBS to get cases stored away downstairs in our storage room.
- 1:00pm: Rehearsal in the AUBC with just the Alumni.
- 2:00pm: Free time. We've been asked to clear the arena. You may leave instruments in the stands.
- 2:55pm: Call Time back in the stands. Please enter through the same Champions Entrance as before.

- Once we're settled in the stands with the college students, we can start playing! We alternate with the "house music."
After the game, Bill Welch has set up a reservation for 7:30pm at O'Neils! Please check with him for details about that.
Please note: As the event approaches we will use the information provided in the registration form to send information emails including a link to purchase special tickets for additional non-performing guests for this event.

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it using the “Forgot Your Password?” link.
New to IRIS?
If this is your first time using the IRIS system, you will first need to create an account using an email address and password.
Once you have created your account, you will be able to complete the online Registration Information and make payment. If prompted for a code use JMUPEP2024.
You will use this IRIS account any time you access your registration and payment portal.
Trouble Shooting Tip: If you try to create a new registration but after filling out all required fields you click "Register" and nothing happens it may be because you already have a pre-existing Iris Account. In this case try the "Forgot Your Password" link to see if you already have an account under your email.
