Mission
Alpha Kappa Alpha’s mission is to cultivate and encourage high scholastic and ethical standards, to promote unity and friendship among college women, to study and help alleviate problems concerning girls and women in order to improve their social stature, to maintain a progressive interest in college life, and to be of “Service to All Mankind.”

- Founded January 15, 1908 at Howard University by sixteen women
- Colors are salmon pink and apple green
- Symbol is the ivy leaf

We strive to promote scholarship among our chapter members as well as encouraging all JMU students to take an active part in their academics.
Little Miss Enchantment Scholarship Pageant
Our annual scholarship pageant is held in the spring semester, where local youth students are given the opportunity to participate and compete for a scholarship given by the Lambda Chi chapter.
