Enrolling in an MCAT or DAT prep course is not required, nor not always necessary pending your study habits and learning style. If you choose to go the route of investing into a prep course, be sure it aligns with your personal timeline in taking the MCAT or DAT and applying to medical or dental school.
MCAT Prep
Through our education partner, Kaplan Test Prep, students can enroll in live online courses to prep for the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). The MCAT live online course gives you access to a team of Kaplan Test Prep's instructors from across the country with an interactive classroom and instant one-on-one help with your questions. Kaplan’s registration windows close on the 1st and 15th of every month. Please ensure you register for a course at least 3 weeks prior to the start date to ensure time for Kaplan to process your enrollment, grant you access to your online portal, and mail your physical materials”
The MCAT Prep Live Online course is offered to JMU students for $1449 (over $1000 in savings). Enrollment includes access to online materials, live-online classes, and books. Access to Kaplan services is valid for one year from class start date (i.e. if you register in advance, you will have extended access to prep materials). A live online course provides you with access to a team of Kaplan Test prep instructors with an interactive classroom and one-on-one help with your questions.

How to Register for the MCAT Live Online Course

Please ensure you register for a course at least 3 weeks prior to the start date to ensure time for Kaplan to process your enrollment, grant you access to your online portal, and mail your physical materials”
Step 1: View Kaplan's class schedules for "Live Online". Courses will vary in weekend/weekday formats and length. Find what works best for you and your MCAT timeline: https://www.kaptest.com/mcat/online-course/scheduler/classes.
Step 2: Then click "Course Details". Remember, the pricing on this page does not reflect the JMU discount. Do not enroll through this page! You will enroll with discounted pricing through the submitted form in Step 3.
Scroll to the bottom of the Course Details Page and copy "Class Code" for the preferred class date. The Class Code can be found at the bottom of the page. Do not enroll through this page! You will enroll with discounted pricing through the submitted form in Step 3.
Step 3: Complete this registration form and paste your Class Code in this form. Be sure to include the Class Start Date.
Step 4: Proceed to Payment Portal. Following payment, you will receive an emailed receipt from JMU Professional and Continuing Education. Your Kaplan test prep materials will be mailed to you within 7-14 business days.

DAT Prep
Through our education partner, Kaplan Test Prep, students can enroll in live online courses to prep for the Dental Admissions Test (DAT). As a current or former JMU student, you now have the option to enroll in a Kaplan Limitless DAT prep course at a special discounted rate.
