Pre-Professional Health (PPH) students have the support of a full academic advising team that includes, at minimum, a major advisor and PPH minor advisor. Advising for students planning to apply to graduate health profession programs involves more than just selecting the right courses. PPH advisors may help students plan for clinical experiences, service opportuntities, required standardized tests, program selection, and navigating the graduate admissions processes. We encourage students to meet with their assigned PPH advisor early and often during their undergraduate career at JMU.
Currently declared JMU PPH students may use MyMadison Connect via MyMadison to schedule advising appointments with their assigned advisors.
Undeclared PPH students may also use MyMadsion Connect via MyMadison to schedule with an advisor. Select other advising support, then Pre-Professional Health Advising, then select the minor of your interest to view advisor availability for virtual and in-person sessions.
Non-JMU students may email pph@jmu.edu to connect with an advisor.
PPH Alumni: please refer to our Alumni Resources page for access to alumni advising support.

Meet with a Madison Advising Peer (MAP)
MAPs are fellow students that work in conjunction with faculty advisors to provide supplemental academic advising information and assist JMU undergraduate students with academic planning.
Students may schedule a MAP session in advance by making an appointment in MyMadison Connect or simply drop-in to the PPHA Office, located in the SSC Advising Hub on the 4th Floor.
In-person and virtual options are available! To schedule an appointment in MyMadison Connect, you will select Other Advising Support, then select Madison Advising Peers and choose Pre-Professional Health. Pick your appointment type (virtual or in-person), then a day/time, and enter a reason and you're all set!
