Sean Harrington, a 1996 graduate (back when SMAD was still Mass Communications), works for WideOrbit, a San Francisco-based software firm. The company specializes in ad-management solutions, supporting both linear- and non-linear transactions via any sales method (direct or programmatic) across all platforms (TV, radio, print, digital, mobile). More than 3,000 TV stations and cable networks in the United States use the company's flagship product, and more than 3,200 radio stations rely on the studio platform, WO Automation for Radio.
"I would not be where I am today without the foundation and connections JMU SMAD provided to me," Harrington says.
Previously, Harrington worked at ABC Radio in Washington, D.C. After an eight-year stint there, he worked for Jefferson-Pilot and Entercom before working with Arbitron.
Harrington, now product manager at WideOrbit, started a scholarship in 2022 that recognizes outstanding work among SMAD majors.
