Dr. Lauren DeLaCruz received her Ph.D. in Communication Studies, Rhetoric and Public Culture, from Northwestern University in 2019. Her research focuses on the intersection of critical rhetoric, gender, and childhood studies. She served as an Assistant Professor of English at Hampton University for five years, teaching first-year writing classes and children’s literature and serving as a faculty advisor for Hampton’s student newspaper, before returning to Harrisonburg and joining JMU’s SMAD program.
