Duties:
Caretaker/Companion needed for my 17 yo son who has Down syndrome and Autism. My son is a sweet and fun guy. He's a people-person and enjoys meeting new friends. He also has a funny sense of humor. He loves music, dancing, watching the cars go by while on walks, taking car rides, watching movies, going to the park, pool and the mall, etc. He communicates with simple signing and a speech device. Duties would include taking him on outings; going for walks to the park or around the neighborhood; playing with him or doing activities; watching movies; assisting him with meals and self help skills, personal hygiene, etc. Plus the potential for taking him to his Speech/OT therapy sessions which can provide shadowing hours if needed. The position could begin now or over Winter Break with the opportunity for it to extend into next semester and beyond. We can be flexible depending on your schedule and how it fits with my needs this semester and next. Candidates can apply through e-mail. Requirements:
- Must be reliable and responsible and have a love of helping others meet their own potential. An intuitive sense of people’s needs and good problem solving skills is a plus!
- CPR certification is a bonus.
- A background check is required.
- Must have own transportation.
