Julie joined the Center for Global Engagement in 2024 as the International Recruitment Manager. In her current role, Julie will collaborate with various campus partners to ensure strategic and coordinated recruitment activities for prospective international students. She is excited to position JMU as a leading destination for international education! She has spent her entire career working in higher education and joined JMU in 2020 working in the Office of Admissions. She then had the amazing opportunity to work in JMU Human Resources as a Benefits Specialist where her favorite part of the job was connecting with JMU faculty and staff.

Prior to that, Julie was Assistant Director of International Admissions at George Mason University for 5 years before moving back down to the Valley. She is a first-generation college student who graduated from George Mason University in 2011 with degrees in Global Affairs and Conflict Analysis and Resolution. While a student she also had the amazing opportunity to study abroad in the Philippines.

Outside of work she loves to cook (and eat!), read, spend time with friends and family, and learn about different cultures. Julie and her husband Tony like to go to JMU football and basketball games and travel; but her rottweiler (Dunkin) is sad when she is gone.

Some other fun facts: She grew up in McGaheysville, she is adopted, and she has been to over 30 countries! She is always looking for her next adventure, loves learning and helping people plan for their future.
