Professional Experience

Jessica Lewellen is a proud JMU alumni who graduated from the College of Education's 5-year undergraduate/graduate teacher licensure program. She spent 17 years teaching in Rockingham County, Virginia as a high school mathematics teacher. Jessica began working at James Madison University in July 2023 in the College of Education as a Minor Advisor and supported recruitment for the COE. She enjoys teaching and continues to adjunct for the College of Education. In July 2024, Jessica joined the University Advising Team as an Exploratory Advisor. 

Coming from a background in teaching, Jessica believes that advising in an extension of the classroom. As an advisor, she wants to be supportive and encourage student growth, while enjoying her advisees discover their potential. 

Personal Interests

Jessica loves running and traveling; she is often training for her next destination race.
