In order to process your credit, JMU must receive scores and transfer credit as soon as possible. If scores and transcripts are not received prior to the last day of drop/add in the semester, you may be registered in a class for which you already have earned credit.

Dual Enrollment and College Transfer Credit
If you have taken courses at a community college or university and earned a C or better, you may be able to receive credit for specific courses at JMU through dual enrollment or transfer credit. If you have taken courses through one of the Virginia Community Colleges, visit the Office of the Registrar’s VCCS-JMU Course Comparison guide to find the JMU equivalent.
To ensure that the course credit is processed by JMU, you must contact the college or university providing the credit (not your high school) and request that an official copy of your final transcript be sent to JMU. A sealed envelope can be hand delivered to the Registrar in SSC Room 5300, or mailed to:
James Madison University Office of the Registrar

Associate Degrees
Tell your first year advisor as soon as possible if you earned an associate degree; your General Education requirements may be waived depending on the type of associate degree you earned. Read JMU’s policies on Transferable Associate Degrees to know which degree programs waive your General Education requirements.
