The Center for Faculty Innovation offers programs to support faculty through various reporting processes: annual evaluations, mid-tenure reviews, tenure packets, promotion for senior and principal lecturers, promotion to full, etc.

Our support is premised on the fact that evaluation standards at JMU vary by departments and colleges; as a result, we do not provide advice but aim to help faculty determine what they have to deliver, when, and in which format.

Programs

Career Consultations. Consultations are flexible; they can be offered anytime during the semester  and tailored to the individual faculty member’s needs.

New Faculty Academy. One of the workshops for new faculty participating in the New Faculty Academy covers reporting requirements at JMU.

Faculty Portfolio Programs. Usually offered during the summer, portfolio programs help faculty take stock of their careers, plan the next steps and medium-range career paths, and prepare promotion and/or tenure packets. Preparing Your (Pre—)Promotion Packet focuses on the structure of what faculty must submit and helps them identify materials they must assemble. Draft Your Dossier is a writing community for faculty working on their dossiers.

We may offer faculty communities in early fall for faculty to put the finishing touches on their tenure packets and/or lecturers preparing for promotion. These will be announced in the CFI Weekly Digest and on our website.

If you would like to receive notice about upcoming programs around reporting (including preparation for tenure and promotion), please add your name to our notification list.

Program Goals for Reporting Achievement
  • Help faculty identify people (such as AUHs and PAC chairs) they need to talk to.
  • Help faculty identify questions they need to ask.
  • Help faculty discover how they want to and need to frame and present their achievements.
  • Provide a community for faculty as they write their reports.
