Want on-the-job international preparation for our globalized world? This is the program for you. Students will have the opportunity to intern in a variety of fields, including, but not limited to business, engineering, finance, tourism, IT, media/communications, international relations, the nonprofit sector, German studies, and economics.
The internships take place in Berlin, Germany's capital and one of Europe's largest cities. Berlin has a booming economy and has been labeled one of the most innovative locations in the EU. JMU partner, Cultural Vistas, provides customized internship placements based on students' areas of interest and experience.
Upon arrival, students participate in a short orientation with other new interns that includes an introduction to German culture and work environment, an overview of the city and surrounding areas, and preparation for the internship. After orientation, students will be placed in a full-time internship for a total of 8 weeks.
Don't waste your summer, take advantage of this opportunity to get international work experience while earning academic credits!
Students will enroll in either GER 490 or IB 294. For students wishing to get credit for GER 490, knowledge of the German language is required and internship experience will be in German. Basic German is recommended, but not required, for students enrolling in IB 294.
