Sport and Recreation Event Management in the UK explores both competitive and recreational event management within the context of the United Kingdom, centered in London.

This course is primarily experiential and will give students the ability to interact with UK sport and recreation entrepreneurs, employees, volunteers and participants in a wide range of events, from large to small scale. Students will gain hands-on experience in at least one volunteer role in a recreational event. Event planning, communication, customer service, and business practices will be addressed through group discussion and reflection. Students will gain a more global perspective of the impact sport and recreation events have on communities, tourism and individuals.

This program will offer an incredible opportunity for students to explore London through the lens of recreation and sport, experiencing several large and community events and touring event facilities over the course of two weeks. There will be required zoom class meetings and several self-paced, virtual assignments to complete prior to departure.

Location Description

This program will be based in London and will include one or more day trips via train to events within a 3-hour radius in the UK.
