JMU X-Labs is an exciting, interactive space on JMU’s campus where people from different areas of study come together to create new solutions. Think of it as a team-focused lab where everyone – students, professors, staff, and even community partners – work together to tackle real-world problems that need multiple viewpoints to solve. At X-Labs, there's no solo work; everything is done in groups so that different skills and perspectives combine for the best ideas.
Each project at X-Labs starts with a big question or challenge. From there, we follow a special problem-solving approach called design thinking. This process helps us understand who we’re solving the problem for, brainstorm creative ideas, and keep testing and improving our solutions. Whether it’s designing a prototype or finding ways to help the environment, JMU X-Labs is where students and teaching teams collaborate to create things that matter!
