What is your educational background?
I received my doctorate and master’s degree in experimental condensed matter physics from the University of Cincinnati, and a Bachelor of Science’s degree in solid state physics from Isfahan University of Technology in Iran.
What is your position at JMU and when did you start?
I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, as well as the JMU honor council coordinator and an academic advisor since 2016.
What is X-Labs to you?
As an instructor, I have always been passionate about employing innovative and research-backed instructional techniques. As a researcher, I had the support of JMU 4-VA in recent years through seed money to launch my research initiatives. To me, X-Labs is all of that together and even more. It is a special place that acts as a spark for ingenuity and creativity. It is a modern classroom where innovative, high-quality teaching and research is happening. A truly interdisciplinary hub that makes effective collaboration possible by blending technology, design, and business. Working with X-Labs is a win, win, win scenario! Where students, faculty and the community (external partners) benefit from a collaboration.
