The Office of the Registrar's Graduation Information website contains information on the graduation application, deadlines and forms. All students must formally apply for graduation by established deadlines.
Graduation Checklist
To be considered for graduation from a bachelors degree program, undergraduate students must:
- Earn at least 120 credit hours
- Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.0
- Earn a GPA of at least 2.0 in major and minor subjects at JMU
- Fulfill all requirements for General Education, major, degree and elective courses
- Be enrolled at JMU a minimum of two regular semesters and have earned a minimum of 30 credit hours at JMU during that period of enrollment
- Have earned at least 60 credit hours accepted by JMU from accredited four-year institutions of higher education, including JMU.
Graduation Requirements for Transfer Students
If students have attended another two-year or four-year institution besides JMU they must also meet the following requirements in addition to those listed above:
JMU requires a minimum of 120 credit hours for graduation. A student must meet the following requirements:
- Earn a minimum of 25% of credit hours (30 credits for degree programs of 120 credits) at JMU.
- Earn at least 50% of credit hours (60 credits for degree programs of 120 credits) accepted by JMU from accredited senior (four-year) institutions of higher education, including JMU.
- Meet course prequisites for the major regardless of where general education requirements were completed.
- Attend JMU during the semester in which degree requirements are completed.
