Jess Kyllo began working at James Madison University in January 2019 in Student-Athlete Services as an athletic academic advisor. While there she advised student-athletes ensuring academic progress, assisted at-risk students with study skills and was the department liaison to the College of Education and Office of Disability Services. In January 2024, Jess joined the University Advising Team as an Exploratory Advisor. She brings multiple years of experience as an academic advisor, having worked as an athletic academic advisor at UNC Charlotte and University of Idaho.
Originally from Washington State, Jess made the move to the east coast in 2017 and enjoys exploring the Shenandoah Valley and surrounding areas. She earned her Masters degree in Education Leadership from Winona State University, where she researched effective tutoring methods. Jess is a proud Cougar alum of Washington State University, where she earned her BA degree in Sport Management.
As a lifelong learner, Jess dedicates time to learn about the most effective and innovative ways to assist students throughout their college career. She enjoys watching students grow and discover their interests and passion.
