What do I do at the Counseling Center?
I am a Counseling Extern, working to complete my M.A. in Counseling from Eastern Mennonite College (EMU). At the JMU Counseling Center, I primarily provide individual counseling support services to students. I also assist with initial appointments, where I help connect students visiting the Counseling Center for the first time to the best resources for them. In addition to these services, I co-facilitate counseling groups, provide workshops, and outreach for the Center.
What is it like to work with me?
My first priority is to offer a safe and welcoming environment for all clients. I am interested in growing an integrative approach pulling from a person centered theoretical influence as well as a few other strength based approaches. I am also interested in the psychoanalytical approach to therapy. I enjoy incorporating expressive techniques and use different variations of art as a resource when appropriate.
What do I do at JMU outside of the Counseling Center?
Outside of the CC I can often be found going to the movies or reading a new book! I also spend a lot of time with my friends and family or playing with my three cats. Taking walks and enjoying the sun are quite important to me as well as enjoying all things fall!
