Program Description

This course will educate students about a wide range of topics in the world's most populated country - India. Incredible, hospitable, and beautiful are the words that best describe India. This culturally rich land showcases a plethora of colorful facets. India is a harmonious blend of varied cultures, customs, religions, and traditions. It sets the perfect example of “Unity in Diversity”. This course shall educate students from CULTURE & CUISINES to SPORTS & POLITICS in India.

Class meets online for classroom preparation during the first week of the program.

  • Visit Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, A symbol of love!
  • Celebrate the Independence Day
  • Catch a game of Cricket
  • Eat Biryani and Gulab Jamoon
  • Ride an Elephant in the south

Location Description

India is a country where culture resonates, tradition speaks, beauty entices, and variety fascinates. India’s religious, linguistic, and cultural diversity is unsurpassed. India is known for its rich history, many ethnicities, and enormous landscapes. In the words of Mark Twain, “India is the cradle of the human race, the birthplace of human speech, the mother of history, the grandmother of legend and the great-grandmother of tradition.” 

India is famous for its rich cultural heritage, historical monuments like the Taj Mahal, diverse cuisine, vibrant festivals, and spiritual destinations. The country's natural landscapes, from the Himalayas to Kerala's backwaters, and bustling cities like Bengaluru and New Delhi are a must-visit for education through experience.

Accommodations

Accommodations will be provided for students through furnished apartments and houses with internet access and full kitchen and laundry facilities for a portion of the program. All students will participate in home stays with families in the host culture for a portion of the program. Housing accommodations are centrally located and public transportation is easily accessible.

Students will be allocated a weekly meal stipend. Most meals will be provided as a part of the program. Students will be given meals in their host family accommodations. Students should plan to spend their own money each day to cover the cost of lunch while on their own.

Students will need to apply for an e-VISA before departure.

Applicant Criteria

Applicants must have a GPA minimum of 2.0

Open to all majors and class levels, including graduate students

No foreign language proficiency is required
