Language acquisition is not truly improved until a student is immersed in the language. Studying abroad is vital for Modern Foreign Language majors to widen their understanding and appreciation for the language they study. Study French in Paris or Spanish in Salamanca (among others) to experience the culture while being able to practice the language. Cultural understanding is an important skill to have in language acquisition and will create a better base knowledge for language learning.
