UREC 216

Trey Smith joined the UREC team in 2021 and currently serves as the Interim Assistant Director for Adventure. He oversees the climbing area in the UREC Adventure Center and manages the student staff responsible for Adventure trips. Additionally, Trey serves as a resource for camps and youth-focused activities across all UREC program areas.

Trey received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Communication from James Madison University and was a UREC student employee all through his undergrad experience. After graduation he managed an eco-tourism company in Virginia Beach before moving back to the Valley to work as the director of The Outdoor Learning Center, which provides teambuilding, environmental education and outdoor adventure experiences to K-12 programs all throughout Virginia, DC and Maryland.

Trey grew up in Virginia Beach where his family spent time surfing and fishing together. He now lives with his wife Erin, new baby George and dog Truman. Trey loves hiking, canoeing & fly fishing, and long neighborhood walks with the family. Trey’s favorite thing about UREC is the positive atmosphere and good energy that radiates from the students and staff.
