Equipment Center
The Equipment Center is the go-to spot for your equipment needs. Located on the first floor of UREC, it offers a wide variety of equipment for checkout, towel services, and locker rentals. You can also check out equipment at UPARK's Gatehouse!
Equipment Checkout
UREC offers equipment you can check out while staying within UREC or UPARK! All equipment is checked out on a first-come, first-serve basis. Present your JACard to check out equipment and it will be swiped into our system for equipment used in UREC or at UPARK.
You are responsible for returning the specific item you checked out and UREC reserves the right to limit equipment checked out. If the equipment is damaged or not returned, you may be charged a replacement fee.

- Weight belts and lifting straps
- Racquetball racquets and goggles

- Pickleball equipment

University Park In-House Equipment includes:
- Frisbees
- Tennis racquets
- Footballs
- Outdoor basketballs
- Outdoor soccer balls
- Outdoor volleyballs
- Pickleball equipment
- Disc golf sets (driver, mid-range, putter)
- Flag football belts
UREC offers recreation equipment rentals intended for on-campus use using your JACard. The UREC Equipment Center has a selection of the following items available on a first-come first-serve basis.
There is a $10 deposit fee for every piece of equipment rented (on FLEX or a JMU departmental Duke Card) which will be refunded within a week if the equipment is returned on time and in good condition.
- Weekday rentals are due back the next day before UREC closes.
- Weekend rentals are due back by Monday before UREC closes.
Late fees are $5 a day per contract. If the equipment is damaged or not returned, you may be charged a replacement fee.

- Life-size Jenga
- Kan Jam

Recreation Equipment Rentals for Campus Events:
UREC also offers recreation equipment/lawn game rentals for recognized Student Organizations/JMU Departments to reserve for on-campus events.
Campus Event Recreation Equipment Rental Request Form
Submit a request form at least 14 days prior to your campus event reservation date. Form submission does not guarantee equipment availability. Pick-up and returns for this equipment takes place at UPARK (1090 Devon Lane). Review the policies and procedures for this process outlined in the form prior to submitting a request.

There is a DART machine located in the UREC lobby that participants can utilize to deposit money into their FLEX account. This DART machine also provides DART cards. Visitors and participants can purchase the cards out of the DART machine for one dollar ($0.75 for the card and $0.25 credit put on the card). They can then put money on them to use for FLEX charges. Prices and availability subject to change.
How To Check Out Equipment
To check out equipment, please swipe your card or scan the UREC App at the Equipment Center and ask the Member Service what you would like to check out. Remember to bring back the equipment at the end of your visit.
