JMU Club Wrestling is a Division 1 team in the National Collegiate Wrestling Association (NCWA) comprised of 20-30 members of all experience levels that practice weekly, compete in regional and national tournaments, and volunteer with local youth wrestling organizations.

We are open to any and all new members regardless of experience. Anyone wishing to join the team may reach out to our social media accounts or any club officer with any questions.

The team practices in the Godwin Hall Combatives Room on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7 - 9 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 - 11 p.m. We do team lifts at UREC that will be scheduled and communicated by club officers 2-3 times per week. Competitions can vary from single day local matches to weekend long tournaments with lodging provided. The competitive season runs from September to March, ending with the NCWA National Championships.

No attendance to any event is mandatory, but communication with club officers and team members is appreciated for any absence.

Club dues are owed within the first few weeks of practice each semester and are payable to the Club Treasurer by check or Venmo/Cashapp.

Competitive team members (participating in matches, tournaments and traveling with the team to events) pay $150 per semester or $250 up front for the year.

Non-competing team members (participating in practices and team lifts only) pay $70 per semester.

Competitive members of the team are given a chance to qualify for the NCWA National Championships every year by placing Top 6 (subject to change) in the NCWA Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament. At-large bids for the National Championships are also given out to a select few wrestlers in the region every year.

In the 2022 season, we had 6 NCWA National Qualifiers, 3 Academic All-Americans and Cal Kopstein earned All-American honors to become a 3x NCWA All-American. For 2023, we are returning 4 National Qualifiers.
