Multi-Line NEC D-Term Phones
Calling Features
Some Faculty and staff are provided with multiple line or D-Term phones with voice mail capabilities and other calling features as listed below.
CB (Call Back) – Activates a call back when a busy campus phone is encountered
CONF (Conference) – Establishes a three party conference call with on-campus or off-campus parties
- To establish a conference, call the first party.
- When the first party answers, press TRANSFER and dial the second party.
- When the second party answers, press CONF and all three parties will be connected.
- To establish a four or more party conference call, contact Telecom at 568-6471.
FEATURE BUTTON
With handset idle, press the FEATURE button followed by the number button followed by the number button corresponding to the feature you wish to control.
- Press FEATURE, then “1” to turn the microphone on or off. The microphone MUST be on to use “hands free” calling.
- Press FEATURE, then “2” to control the handset receiver volume.
- Press FEATURE, then “3” to select one of the nine ringer tones available. While the phone is ringing, successively press the FEATURE button to move through the four tone choices.
- Press FEATURE, then “4” to increase or decrease the handset volume.
- Press FEATURE, then “5” to activate “hands free” calling.
- Press FEATURE, then “6” to deactivate “hands free” calling.
FWD (Forward All) – Forwarding all your calls to another number
- Press SPEAKER then FWD and dial the number which you want to forward calls to. Press speaker again.
- Cancel by pressing SPEAKER then FWD.
FWDNA (Forward No-Answer) – Forwards your calls if unanswered after 4-5 rings.
- Press SPEAKER then FWDNA and dial the number which you want to forward calls to. Press speaker again.
- Cancel by pressing SPEAKER then FWDNA
FWDBY (Forward Busy) – Forwards your calls if your line is busy.
- Press SPEAKER then FWDBY and dial the number you want to forward calls to. Press speaker again.
- Cancel by pressing SPEAKER then FWDBY.
HOLD
- When pressed once, the call is placed on hold for three minutes.
- When pressed twice, an exclusive hold (EIID) is applied which prevents the call from being picked up from another station.
LAST - Shows the last number dialed
- Press LAST and listen for the dial tone.
- Press the ASTERISK “*” to dial the last number dialed.
RECALL – Returns to dial tone so another call can be placed.
REDIAL – Shows the last five numbers dialed
- Press REDIAL (up to five times) to view the last five numbers dialed.
- Listen for the dial tone and press the ASTERISK “*” to dial the desired number.
SPEAKER – Permits “hands free” calling.
SPEED DIALING
- Press the desired speed dial button. It will automatically give you a dial tone and dial the programmed number.
- You may lift the handset of talk “hands free” if FEATURE #5 has been activated.
SPEED DIALING PROGRAMMING
- Press the FEATURE button
- Press the desired speed dial button ( from buttons in the last two rows)
- Enter the phone number
- Press the FEATURE button
SPEED DIAL PROGRAMMING WITH VOICE & TRANSFER (Voice Announcement)
- Press the FEATURE button
- Press the desired speed dial button ( from buttons in the last two rows)
- Press RECALL
- Enter the extension number
- Press TRANSFER
- Press the FEATURE button
TRANSFER – Transfer a call to another station
- With call in progress, press TRANSFER
- Dial the extension you want to transfer to
- Announce the call and hang up
UP & DOWN ARROW KEYS
- When phone is idle, press the UP/\ key beside the number keypad to increase the display contrast.
- Press the DOWN \/ key to decrease the contrast
HOW DO I SET A BAD CALL NOTIFICATION?
- If a harassing call is received, BEFORE the caller hangs up, press the “TRANSFER” button (pause for one second) then dial *2
- Hang up and immediately call Campus Police at 8-6911
